Vitens water company (Corle - The Netherlands)

Vitens water distribution company has built a water softening plant in Corle in the Achterhoek for the supply of ‘soft’ water. A very important requirement for the steel facades of this very special building, designed by Rooding Architects of Ellecom, was burglar resistance. In addition, the various doors had to have the following specific properties: sound-insulation, fire resistance and air-tightness.

Merford used various doors with ventilation grilles, all with their own or combined specific properties, in the steel facades of the building. The ventilation grilles serve functional purposes (ventilation and/or protection) and are also used as false louvres.
