Schiecentrale Studio's (Rotterdam - The Netherlands)

 

The City of Rotterdam plans to restore old monumental buildings and transform them into a different concept to preserve the ‘old’ character of the city as well as to keep the identity of pre-war Rotterdam intact. This is true of the Lloyd Quarter in the very heart of the city where Merford supplied doors for Schiecentrale. This is a former power plant that was transformed into a multi-functional location for audiovisual and film production companies as well as ICT companies. Schiecentrale houses the Dutch broadcasting companies RTV Rijnmond, FunX and Llink, among others. The building is also home to Schiecentrale Studios. The company has 2000 m2 of floor space and offers multi-functional studios and two large meeting rooms. Since a new apartment complex neighbours the building, the doors required soundproofing. Merford’s MF51, sound-insulating doors also have a fire-resistance capacity of 60 minutes.
