Utrecht Conservatory (Utrecht - The Netherlands)
The Utrecht Conservatory (Faculty of Music) is one of the faculties of the Utrecht School of the Arts. The Utrecht Conservatory of Music is housed in two historic buildings located on the Mariaplaats in Utrecht. The historic building for Arts and Sciences offers two concert halls: a hall accommodating 80 to 100 people and the J.M. Fentener van Vlissingenzaal, the oldest concert hall in the Netherlands, accommodating 220 people. The Faculty of Music’s main building has a splendid chapel where concerts are held. The chapel is part of the Johannes de Deo building, formerly a hospital of a Catholic nursing order. In addition to concert halls, both buildings have a large number of classrooms, rehearsal and practice rooms. To keep noise disturbance to and from the concert halls and the rehearsal and practice areas to a minimum the Faculty of Music wanted to replace the doors in these areas.
Merford Special Doors supplied various sound-insulating doors for these areas. A number of the doors have an anti-panic function and are fire-resistant.
